Vancouver, BC - This fall, Canada's Royal Winnipeg Ballet (RWB) is delighted to present the lurid rowdiness of turn-of-the-century Paris with the highly anticipated Vancouver premiere of Moulin Rouge - The Ballet at The Centre in Vancouver for the Performing Arts, November 19 to 22, 2009 at 8:00 pm and November 22 at 2:00 pm. An original story set in the late 1880s, Moulin Rouge - The Ballet tells the tale of laundress-turned-Can-Can star Nathalie and her romance with a painter named Matthew. Drawn to Paris by the city's throbbing allure of ambition and desire, Matthew and Nathalie tempt the fates as they seek love and destiny in the world's most infamous cabaret - the Moulin Rouge. Choreographed by Jorden Morris with music by a number of French composers including Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel, Jacques Offenbach, and Jules Massenet, Moulin Rouge - The Ballet is sure to amaze audiences with its opulent costumes, dramatic set design, and high-kicking Can-Can choreography.
The Ballet range in price from $30 to $79 for adults, and $25 to $74 for students and seniors (plus applicable taxes). Tickets are available through Ticketmaster, www.ticketmaster.ca, or by calling 604-280-3311.
