What’s Happening in Ferndale

The second year of our Farmers’ Market is rolling along every Saturday along our Riverwalk Park.  It is the new “hot spot” for breakfast!  A buffalo sausage breakfast sandwich and the best cinnamon roll in Whatcom County is the perfect way to start the day.  My favorite part of the Riverwalk is watching people dance through the fountain.  Come on now, admit it.  Everyone wants to run through a cool, spraying fountain on a hot, sunny day!.  In Ferndale, it’s perfectly legal and actually encouraged by the Mayor!

Despite the downturn in the economy, we have enjoyed a banner year for new business in Ferndale.  If you have not visited us lately, come see our changes. 

• It will be a fairly busy construction season for our City:
• The new Boys and Girls Club near Pioneer Park is ready for construction.
• New parking and pedestrian improvements along First Avenue.
• The remodel of the former Boys and Girls Club into our new library.
• The new Second Avenue Extension project. This project received a generous portion of President Obama’s stimulus funding and will bring a new, improved second entrance into our City from the Portal Way interchange.
• The famous Boundary Bay Brewing Company will bring a new production and restaurant facility in the Second Avenue Extension area.  The area is headed towards a bright and revitalized future.

So come dance in our fountain, enjoy some local produce and gourmet delights, and see for yourself “what’s happening in Ferndale.”
